Three-fifths of Czech said the current benefits do not sufficiently motivate the unemployed to find a job and that the benefits need not be increased. In 2007, three-fourths shared this view.
Compared to last year, Czechs are more benevolent towards the unemployed and their benefits.
Some 38 percent, 10 percent more than in 2007, believe the unemployed should get more money from the state.
The pollsters point to the fact that people are becoming more benevolent at a time when it is easier to find a job than in the previous years and when the unemployment rate is falling.

Pecina stressed that the UOHS’s latest answer is the same as the office’s previous verdicts in this case.

The Senate supported the government’s proposal last week.
The vote on the mission was dramatic as three deputies from the junior government parties, Olga Zubova, Vera Jakubkova (both Greens, SZ) and Ludvik Hovorka (Christian Democrats, KDU-CSL), voted against it.
The government, which has only 100 seats in the 200-seat lower house, did not have enough votes to push the proposal through first.
However, some opposition Social Democrats (CSSD) supported the proposal in the second vote, so the Chamber passed the Afghan mission in the end.
Czech troops will fulfil combating tasks under U.S. command in Afghanistan. They will participate in special anti-terrorist operations.

The customs officers found 50 kilograms of marihuana and over 3000 cannabis plants with them. They also exported the drug abroad, Nejedly said.
Four of them organised the production and distribution of the drug, while another five grew the plants. They have been charged with illegal narcotics production and possession. If convicted, they may be sentenced up to 15 years in prison, he added.
They exported the drug to the Netherlands and Germany and imported technical equipment for the growing of the cannabis, its seeds and fertilisers, Nejedly said.
The Usti customs officers worked on the case with the cover name Rakos (Reed) along with the National Anti-Drug Centre since July 2007.
